Frequently Asked Questions

Answers to many of the questions asked by our artistes.

    • Do I need to have any previous experience as a supporting artist to register?

    • No, all you need is to have enthusiasm, reliability and a hard work ethic, understandably we only want people we can rely on.

    • I have just filled out the online registration form. What happens next?

    • You will receive an email from one of our team inviting you to one of our registration days where we can give you a welcome pack, get those all important details so we can pay you and have professional photographs done for use on our website, which incidentally is free.

    • How will I be contacted?

    • One of our casting directors will be in touch via email, SMS or phone call…so have it close at hand!

    • I have heard that the more often I call the Agency the more work I will get. Is that true?

    • No not at all! Calling us chasing work stops us being able to concentrating on finding work for our artists. Some of which you could be asked to work on! We choose our artists based on suitability for that role and of course the past record of reliability and professionalism.

    • How much is a supporting artiste paid?

    • All of our rates are industry agreed. To see the rates see our rates page.

    • When will I get paid for the work I have done?

    • You can expect to be paid within 4-6 weeks directly into your bank account by BACS.

    • How often will I be given work?

    • This depends on a variety of facts – Your availability, your suitability for the project, your flexibility - the more flexible you are the more likely that we will have the work for you on a regular basis.

    • Do I need to be a member of equity or BECTU to join?

    • No - It is not a requirement asked by us. Membership should be considered as both offer assistance to background artistes.

    • Will I need to pay for transportation to job location?

    • This all depends on the production, extra-people will always endeavor to get you a transport allowance, however be aware this may not be available all the time.

    • How old do I have to be to become an extra?

    • Unfortunatley as an agency we can only take people who are over the age of 16 years old to work for us. People under 16 can apply once they reach the age of 16 - note all proof of age is required before anyone works for us.

    • What skills do I need to be a supporting artist/extra?

    • Enthusiasm for work you are to be involved in! The film and TV industry can involve a lot of patience, a lot of hanging around and the need to be professional at all times.  This will show its rewards in you being re-booked. In many cases people go to work on a film for one day to end up being booked for the full length of a shoot. The more skilled you are the more work we can get you - be thorough when filling our the skills section when you apply!

    • I see you have offices in the West Midlands and London - am I eligible for both?

    • When you register at our registration day you will have the option to say if you want to be available for work from both our offices. Please consider this carefully as jobs offered by each office will be within that part of the country and productions will usually be looking for local artistes, meaning expensive transport expenses will not usually be available and hours are usually long. If you live in London and have a base in the West Midlands for example you would be the ideal person to be eligible for both offices and vice versa.
